After years of economic difficulties in the 1960s, Indonesia embarked on a national development program that provided various business opportunities. PT Arkon Prima Indonesia, today a leading steel fabricator, was founded in 1972 out of a desire to participate in this national development process and to meet the growing demand for quality structural steel and engineering services.

The Company started out as a joint Venture between Taylor Woodrow International (TWI) of England, UK with some local partners.

Production facilities were established in 1973 at jl. Raya Bekasi, east Jakarta with an initial annual capacity of 5.000 metric tons, primarily for pre-engineered steel buildings.

In 1988, TWI’s shares were taken over by Lakemba ltd. Of Hong Kong. With the support of a new financial partner, the company flourished and made an early commitment to staff training and skill development as well as the transfer technology.

By 1990, to cater increasing demand of industrial equipment, the company extended its product lines into fabrication of various auxiliary equipment, particularly for Mining including Oil and Gas, Power Generating and Heavy Industrial Plants, as well as increased the annual production capacity up to 15,000 metric tons.

Entering the 21st century, with fully supported by professional management, skilled & well trained staff and workers, the Company expanded its market abroad, such as Australia, Asia, Middle East, Africa, and USA through longstanding relationships with many of leading EPC Contractors as well as OEMs around the world. To ensure the Company’s products meet international standard requirements, the Company had adopted and implemented ISO 9001 – 2000 as its quality management system.
